IMU-500 is based on Optolink’s three axis closed loop fiber optic gyroscope TRS-500 and three pendulum accelerometers AT-1104.

 

The strap-down IMU-500 series are a closed loop fiber optic gyroscopes (FOGs) with all-solid-state devices which offer a combination long life and high reliability along with the potential of low mass-production cost. The fundamental principle is based on Sagnac effect. IMU-500 FOGs have so-called minimum configuration that provides reciprocal optical paths for two beams counter propagating in a fiber loop.
